History & Mission
Acropolis Construction Company was founded in 1973 by John Diakoulas and became incorporated in 1974. While the company started as primarily a residential contractor it was during this time that it found itself expanding into the commercial side of the industry. In 1992 John took over sole ownership of the company, restructuring the business in the process. Due to the company's substantial growth, it has now developed into three distinct divisions - Commercial, Residential and Institutional. John’s expertise and proven skills allows Acropolis to meet the demands of an ever growing need for construction. Moreover, John brings over three decades of managerial expertise to the business, leading the company as it continues to establish itself by providing high quality construction service in the Baltimore metropolitan area.
What’s more, John was not only an integral part of Acropolis, but was at the forefront of a carefully chosen set of business ventures. Through those various business ventures, Acropolis broadened its horizon and become both vertically and horizontally integrated in such areas as interior design, sales & manufacturing, architecture, and development. The knowledge and wisdom that was accrued over the years of owning and operating these businesses exponentially increased John’s business savvy.
Moreover, John understood the importance of constant learning, accumulating knowledge, and networking. In turn, and on behalf of Acropolis, he acted for years as a judge for the Better Business Bureau (BBB) and is a longstanding member of the same, became of member of Associated Builders and Contractors (ABC), American Institute of Architects (AIA) Baltimore, Painting and Decorating Contractors of American (PDCA), and even taught a variety of classes and workshops for various construction trades at such institutions as MICA, Harford Community College, and numerous design studios.
With the synergy that John has created, Acropolis utilizes its experience and knowledge and strives to provide the best possible service to past, current and future clients and makes sure every project is performed with the same conviction.
